I'm passionate about coaching offensive hockey. Players need offensive guidance, conceptual teaching and mentorship to maximize their talents offensively.  I aspire to teach players how to produce goals, assists and total points to help their teams win games. Dump & Chase is out of style. Skill and Scoring is in style. Teams are looking for playmakers.

Most parents invest their training and developmental time, as well as dollars on their players for skating coaches, private on-ice training and skill coaches. Your players training sessions are focused primarily on skating and stick-handling. Skating and Skill coaches don't need much of a hockey background, knowledge of the game or creativity to run players through reps and teach basic fundamentals. Most of the sessions can be copied from Instagram, ran with a few cones and some available ice. Don't get me wrong, skating and skill coaches are important to help players get their reps and focus on fundamental movements. These sessions ultimately help players win their area, giving them an opportunity to play with the puck.

However, scoring goals is more about concepts than it is about fundamentals. That's where I come in. As an offensive coach, I teach concepts and tricks of the game. I view offense as art, tempo, rhythm, intelligence, anticipation, attitude, competition, and culture. I want to teach players how maximize their talents and skills during a game, specifically on the scoresheet. By teaching them how to think, look and act like a point getter, they will have more opportunities to score goals. 

In 2013, I agreed to Coach a spring AAA team in Minnesota, the 2003 Blades, as a personal offensive experiment. With an opportunity to coach a group of young talented hockey players for 7 years of their life (9-15 years old), my goal was to develop the players and team to score as many goals as possible. As 9 years olds, I told them, "I'd rather lose 6-7 than win 1-0, so let's make plays and score goals. Our goal is to be the most competitive team and the best passing team." Our group became just that. The fruits of that team has produced 6 NHL Draft Picks, a Mr. Hockey in Minnesota HS Hockey, multiple USA National Program players, NCHC Player of the Year D1 College Hockey, USHL Defensemen of the Year, NAHL Player of the Year as well as multiple Anderson Cup & Clark Cup USHL champions, and NCAA Frozen Four participants.

I enjoy working with players of all ages, boys and girls, men and women. I'm the only coach in Minnesota to have won the Boys & Girls State High School championship. Additionally, finishing #1 at the Tier 1 USA level twice. I coached women's division 1 hockey in 2023-24. The most fun I have coaching, is leading Team Minnesota at the Brick Invitational annually which are 10 year old boys. At Gentry Academy, I worked with 5th-12th graders boys and girls of all skill levels. The Offense Only program is designed for forwards and defensemen 9 years old to professional. Everyone can benefit from learning how to score more goals!
